AwardsThe following scholarships are awarded by the Foundation.
Loran Award (up to 30 available, 15 of which are Weston Loran Awards; $75,000)
The Loran Award is open to every graduating high school or cegep student from coast-to-coast-to-coast. Renewable for up to four years, it includes an annual tuition waiver and a stipend of $8,000, access to funding and internships through our summer program, invitations to annual gatherings and forums, and mentorship opportunities. The award is tenable at any of our partner universities.

Loran Finalist Award ($3,000 one time award, 42 available) - $3,000 one-time entrance award
- Offered to all finalists who attend national selections but are not selected as Loran scholars
- Tenable at any accredited public university in Canada.
Loran Provincial Award ($2,000 one time award, 40 available) - $2,000 one-time entrance award
- Offered by our regional committees to an outstanding semi-finalist who is not asked to attend national selections.
- Tenable at any accredited public university in Canada.
Honour Citation - Granted to students who distinguish themselves at regional interviews but are not offered any of the above awards.
- Certificates are sent to high schools and CEGEPs in the summer
Semi-Finalist Certificate - Issued to students selected for a regional interview who are not recognized in the ways listed above

Eligibility and Selection Criteria
Eligibility Criteria
- Be in the graduating year
of uninterrupted full-time studies in high school or CEGEP. Exceptions
may be considered for those who have undertaken a gap year for academic
pursuits or community service-based activities.
- Present a minimum cumulative average of 85%
- Hold Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status
Selection Criteria Character,
service and leadership are the selection criteria for Loran Awards.
Loran scholars are people of strong moral character who have
demonstrated academic excellence and potential as leaders. They are
curious by nature, interested in a wide range of subjects and willing
to take meaningful risks. They prioritize results over appearances and
value integrity and honesty. Though they study diverse subjects, and go
on to work in a variety of fields, they share a common commitment to
their university and larger communities. |
